About Bosch 9.0 ESP ABS

About Bosch 9.0 ESP ABS

Bosch 9.0 ABS System comprises three main components: The ABS Module, Hydraulic Block and the Electric Pump Motor. What stands out about this design is the number of pistons that the electric pump motor drives. In all earlier versions, it had 2 pistons driven by a single cam, in this model there are 6 pistons driven by 3 cam bearings. This enables the module to build pressure to the individual brake caliper, regardless of the brake pedal position. It also enables automatic braking. From version 5.3 all the way until version 8.0, Bosch ABS Modules were based on ceramic substrate board. In version 9.0 they went back to the standard green printed circuit board design. The ceramic board is much smaller and lighter, however; the individual connections are made using wire bonding technology, which were prone to breakage.
