Shipments leaving XeMODeX across International borders (other than US)

Almost all shipments crossing international borders are subject to the assessment of duties and taxes imposed by the importing country’s government. These fees are the sole responsibility of the receiver. Shipping charges in which are charged by XeMODeX do not include these fees. XeMODeX shipping charges only cover transportation costs.

A shipment’s duty and tax amount may be based on: Product value, Trade agreements, Country of manufacture, Use of the product and or/ The product’s Harmonized System (HS) code.
Customs officials assess duties and taxes based on information provided on the air waybill, the Commercial Invoice and other relevant documents.

Inbound Shipments to XeMODeX

Should you decide to ship the part on your own and/or declared the value of the part at more than $10.00 dollars, customs will charge us duties and taxes based on the dollar value that you have declared. Any fees incurred will be the sole responsibility of the shipper.

Once we have received the bill confirming the total amount of charges and before anything is processed, we will email you a copy of the charges we have incurred to ensure you are aware of what will be charged.

Customs officials use a shipment’s declared value or declared value for customs (the value the shipper declares on the goods being shipped), along with the description of the goods, to determine duties and taxes. It is important to ensure that the declared value is accurate and consistent with your air waybill. Inaccurate declared value is one of the most prevalent reasons for duty and tax disputes.

What is your return policy?

XeMODeX Inc. manufactures and repairs highly advanced electronic automotive components, most of which are permanently programmed to a particular vehicle and become unusable and unsellable when returned. New parts can also be damaged by another malfunctioning part.

It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to have the vehicle properly diagnosed prior to purchasing any one of our products or ordering any of our repair services. If you install our part in the car and still have the same symptoms, the chances are that a fuse was blown by the old defective part. Please consult our online trouble-shooter and FAQ questions. XeMODeX Inc. reserves the right to repair or replace the part. In cases where the part is unrepairable and no direct replacement is available, XeMODeX Inc. will refund the original purchase price, less the costs of shipping. No other refunds will be given.

Are there any reasons why my warranty may be voided?

XeMODeX Inc., at its own discretion, will void your warranty if their components directly affect the performance of a XeMODeX replacement part.

For example, overcharging alternator:

– Other components directly affect the performance of a XeMODeX Inc. replacement part
– Parts (Core’s) that are returned and found to be damaged externally will not be refunded and will be returned at the customer’s expense
– Direct evidence that the unit was tampered with (broken warranty sealant is cut or tampered with).
– Vehicle has been involved in an accident
– Natural disasters: Fire, flood and lightning
– Part was removed and installed in another vehicle
-Vehicle was used in competitive racing
– Original core was not returned back to XeMODeX Inc. within 30 Days from the date of purchase

XeMODeX Inc. liability is limited to the conditions listed above. No other warranties hereby are given or implied.

I purchased a product, but I live outside the United States and/or Canada. Is my part covered under a warranty?

XeMODeX Inc. products sold outside the Canada and United States are covered by a 3 Year Limited Warranty. Brokerage and customs fees that might be charged by your countries authorities and any shipping expenses are the purchasers’ sole responsibility.

My product is defective, but it is still under warranty. What do I do?

In the case that our product becomes defective, XeMODeX Inc., at its own discretion, will repair or replace the defective part. Customer’s must call XeMODeX to speak with technical support to start a warranty claim prior to sending their unit to us. In the case that the part is not repairable and no direct replacement is available, XeMODeX Inc. will refund the original purchase price, less the costs of shipping. Lifetime Limited Warranty coverage applies to the original purchaser and is valid for as long he/she owns the car. Subsequent owners are covered for a period of one year from the original purchase date.

Do your products come with a warranty?

XeMODeX Inc. takes great care in the quality and durability of all our products, resulting in longer-lasting dependable parts. Most XeMODeX products sold in the United States and Canada are covered under a Lifetime Limited Warranty (Canada after October 1, 2011); this excludes Eco-line software transfers (warranty on software only), and any products that are specifically covered under 1 year warranty.

Do you ship packages during the holidays?

No. Our shipments are sent through an external courier, so please keep that in mind when you are placing an order during the holidays. Holiday closure dates for Canada and U.S:

How do I cancel my order?

To cancel an order before the shipment is processed, please contact our customer service staff toll-free at 1-888-712-2525. We do not accept cancellations during the shipping period, even if the shipping takes longer than expected. The shipping times indicated above are for reference purposes, and XeMODeX Inc. does not have control over any courier shipment delays that may occur once your package leaves our facility.

My order has not arrived on time. What happens if the courier has lost my package?

If your order has not arrived on time, please contact us to find out the status of your order. If your order was lost during delivery, please contact our customer service staff toll-free at 1-888-712-2525 to make a claim. In some cases, we can refund you the full payment (lest the cost of shipping). Refunds are issued on a case to case basis.

What happens if my part is damaged when I receive it?

If your part is damaged or defective upon arrival, please contact us to report your problem so we can rectify the issue. We will do our best to work with UPS and ensure that your damage claim is reviewed and processed.

How do I ship my part to your facility?

•Orders can be placed at or by calling one of our experienced sales representatives at 1-888-712-2525
•When orders are placed, Shipping charges include prepaid shipping labels provided by XeMODeX

We will email you pre-paid shipping labels.

•XeMODeX is open Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:30pm EST. If your order is placed during this time, you will receive your labels within an hour of placing your order (if placed over the weekend, labels will be sent when we re-open Monday).
•Once you have received your labels please follow these detailed instructions when shipping with UPS:
Ensure all units are packed without any movement within the box to prevent any damages while on route to our location. (Unfortunately damages that do occur cannot be refunded by XeMODeX. This will be at the discretion of UPS and a claim will have to be filed through them. However, better packaging can prevent these unwanted damages so please make sure your unit is nice and secure.)
Print both attachments, this includes two UPS Labels plus three of the Commercial Invoices must be printed. All (3) commercial invoices must be signed. The 2 labels + 3 Commercial invoices need to be placed in a clear plastic pouch on the outside of your package for UPS scanning (A total of 5 documents should be on the outside of your box) Please do not change the declared value of $15.00 on your commercial invoice. Doing so will result in additional charges of duties and taxes.
Note: if you do not receive an e-mail from us with your shipping labels within an hour of placing your order (during our regular business hours), please make sure to check the junk mail/spam folder in your e-mail account. Occasionally, the shipping labels are automatically sent to these folders. If you are still having issues, please give us a call and ask to speak to our shipping department.

Send us your old defective unit by dropping off the package to any UPS location, or call UPS to schedule a pick up.

We will inspect and repair your old module.
•All UPS packages are received at XeMODeX by 12:00pm EST (weather pending)
•You will receive an email notification once your package has arrived
•Our engineers will fully test every module before the repair process begins

We will send you back the repaired module the same day (unless otherwise stated).
•If your unit is a basic repair with no further complications, it will be repaired and sent back to you same day
•In some cases whether its water or fire damage, this could result in longer repair times, should this be the case you will be contacted immediately

You install the unit back into your vehicle. All functions are restored; no reloads, no towing, no headaches.

How long does it take to ship an order for repair, program transfer and cloning items?

All repair and return, program transfer and eco-line orders are shipped, on working days, within 24 hours after receiving the defective part (unless there is extensive damage).

How long does it take to ship an order for stock items?

All stock orders are shipped, on working days, within 24 hours after receiving payment confirmation. Shipments are not delivered on weekends or holidays. Packages will only be delivered and received on business days (Monday-Friday).

*If you are in a hurry for your part, UPS does offer Saturday delivery in certain areas at an additional cost. Please contact sales to confirm if delivery for this service is available in your area.

What shipping options do you offer?

We offer the following shipping options to our U.S. customers:

How do you refund the core deposit fee?

We will issue a credit directly to your credit card as soon as we receive the core back at our facility. We will also send you an e-mail receipt of the transaction. Please allow 2 business days for the refund to appear on your credit card statement.

What is the core deposit fee?

We charge a core deposit fee to ensure the old defective part is sent back to us. Our business relies on steady core supply so we can remanufacture and resell these units, therefore keeping the prices low. We even provide you with a pre-paid shipping label to make this process as convenient as possible.

I have been told by my repair shop/dealer the importance of replacing the pump and filter when replacing my DEM.

Yes, we strongly recommend that the pump and the filter are replaced whenever the Differential Electronic Module (DEM) is remanufactured or replaced. It is very common for the filter to clog up and overwork the pump. The pump will then short circuit and destroys your newly rebuilt DEM instantly. This is why we are offering these parts in addition to the DEM repair. What’s the advantage to purchasing the cover kit you carry for Volvo DEMs?

The DEM is exposed to heat and water due to the location of the unit being directly under the car. To avoid having to replace this unit or sending it in for repair, we recommend that you protect this important electrical component with a custom protective shield by IPD. INSERT LINK

I have a 2005 Volvo and am unsure if my BCM or CEM is faulty. How can I verify this?

If you are unable to communicate with the BCM, please verify if there’s power to fuse 15 on the CEM with the engine running. A volt meter or a 12-V test light can be used to verify power. Please refer to our BCM Diagnostic Flow Chart.

My door locks, power windows, sunroof, radio, A/C don’t work. My repair shop said I have a faulty CEM, is this true?

No, not always. When the CEM is offline and failing, you want to check and see if any of the functions mentioned above stop working as well. If there are other functions that are disabled of the same time we recommend that the car get further diagnosed.

* Note:  Does not apply to s/v70 1999-2000

Is it possible for the alternator to take down the ECM?

Yes. The faulty alternator can generate higher voltage spikes when defective. It will then backflow into the ECM and destroy the LIN circuit.

Why does the ECM for non-turbo/Denso Volvos require software reload after transfer, but the turbo/Bosch do not?

The Denso ECM has the software configured in several RAM addresses. It is impossible to capture all the data and transfer it. We can capture and transfer the security codes, therefore allowing the good used unit to be reloaded and used in another car, which otherwise will be impossible to do.

I need a replacement DIM as soon as possible, how long is this process going to take?

If you place your order today, you can have your fully programmed, plug and play DIM as early as tomorrow!

What happens if by some chance I get a faulty DIM that doesn’t end up working in car?

No need to worry, all XeMODeX DIMs come with a lifetime limited warranty, so as long as you own your Volvo your DIM will be covered. Please refer to the “Warranty and Return Policy” tab for details on this warranty.

Is the DIM you send me going to look exactly like my old one?

Yes, we will send you the exact same looking unit, except this one will have upgrades done to it to ensure that it doesn’t fail again, such as custom heat sinks, a brand new processor, a fully remanufactured circuit board, and all new light bulbs! You also have the option of upgrading your DIM to one with silver rings or blue dials.

Can you really send me a DIM that is going to work in my car right away?

Yes! All we need is your VIN number to program a unit for your car. The unit is truly plug and play, and picks up the mileage directly from your Volvo’s central electronic module (the brain of your car).

I have a 2005 Volvo and I’m unsure if my BCM or CEM is faulty. How can I verify this?

I purchased a used BCM with the same 8671224 part number on it from the local salvage yard. I asked my dealer to reload the software and they told me it cannot be done. Is this correct or is the dealer trying to sell me a new module?

Your dealer is right. If you purchase a module from the junk yard it will not accept the software reload. Most ’02-’04 Volvos have the 8671224 part number etched on them, what makes each unit unique is the software that is preloaded in them. Since the used unit has been previously configured to another car it cannot be used in another vehicle.

Do you sell brake control modules without software?

Yes we do. After the part is installed in the vehicle, the BCM will require a software reload to activate.

Can I order the BCM with the software already pre-loaded for my VIN number?

We are able to pre-load software to the BCM, but this option is not available for all models.  All you need to do is tell us if your car has Tracs, STC or none. Pre-loaded BCM’s are not available for vehicles with DSTC.

Can I drive the car without the BCM module?

No. Unlike the early ABS modules the BCM is an integrated and vital part of your vehicle network. If you trying to reduce the wait time, choose the express shipping option or purchase one of our units without software.

How long does it take to repair my BCM?

Brake modules are remanufactured and shipped back to you the same day.

I’m planning to send you my old BCM unit. Will I need to have the software reloaded when the unit is installed back in the car?

No, all you have to do is install it back in the car. There is no further software or calibration required. True plug and play.

I own a 2003 S60. The ABS, STC and brake warning light are on, as is the check engine light and the ABS failure message is also displayed. How can I be sure the problem lies with the BCM module and not something else?

We recommend that you have your car properly diagnosed by a professional that is equipped with the proper diagnostic tools. In addition, we have also developed a BCM Diagnostic Flow Chart to help pin point these difficult problems.

My 2000 S70 non-turbo generally runs well with the XeMODeX ETM, however, all of a sudden the ETS light goes off and the engine shakes violently. After I wait for about an hour the car starts but the light goes off and the engine runs as if nothing happened. I connected the OBDII code reader when the ETS was on and the following codes were stored: P-1017, P-1019, P-1020, P-1021, P-1043 and P-1052. When the ETS light was off all codes somehow disappeared. What happened?

We have come across this problem several times for non-turbo, Denso cars. Although these codes suggest an issue within the ETM, this problem is actually caused by a malfunctioning engine management relay. Part of its job is to supply power to the ETM, excessive carbon build-up on the relays contacts will result in poor engine operation and induce ETM fault codes. The relay is located in the main fuse box in the engine compartment beside the left strut tower, refer to our ETM diagnostic flow chart for 99-2000 s/v 70, which includes a picture of the fuse box.

I have installed a new XeMODeX ETM in my 99 Volvo S80 and still have the same problem. The car is in a “Limp Home” mode and the engine will not rev up past 2000 rpm.

Most likely there is an issue with power supply to the ETM. Check if the ETM fuse is blown and take a look at the Engine Management Relay. Please refer to our ETM diagnostic flow chart. 

I live in California. Will the replacement ETM have any impact on the Smog Test results?

Our throttle is much more precise than the original version. We do not modify the flow chamber or butterfly in any way, therefore our ETM will only improve the Smog Test results.

I have sent my ETM to another company for repair, and they have informed me it cannot be fixed. Can I still purchase one of your ETM units?

Yes, you can still purchase one of our units. However, we cannot guarantee that we can refund your core fee deposit. These outfits can actually harm the ETM to the point of no repair. We examine the core and issue a full, partial or no core fee refund at our discretion.

My car has an updated ECU form one of the chip tuning companies, will your ETM have any negative effect on it?

No, not at all. In fact our Pre-programmed ETM is a preferred replacement option since our throttle does not require software reloads. The ECM tune will be automatically wiped out when the ETM is reloade

How can I be sure that my ETM is defective before I purchase a new unit from you?

We suggest you take the car to a Volvo specialist or dealer and have them perform the ETM diagnoses, but we know this is not always possible or practical. Please review our ETM diagnostic flow chart designed to help you narrow down the problem.

I’m in the process of replacing the ETM and the wiring harness is routed behind the starter motor. Can I just cut the wire?

Do not cut the wire! To clear the harness, simply remove the bracket from the back of the starter motor. Units with cut off harness or that have been tampered with or that had had their harnesses cut will not be eligible for core fee refunds.

Do I need any additional parts or special tools to replace the ETM?

The ETM comes with a new gasket. You will not need any additional parts. You will need the following tools: 1/4 inch drive ratchet, 7mm, 8mm and 10mm sockets, T-25 Torx socket and a flat screwdriver.

What is so special about your ETM? Will it really last forever?

Nothing lasts forever, but we make sure it lasts for as long as you own the car and we guarantee our products and services with a lifetime warranty. To make that promise, we had to develop new contact-less potentiometers, source out new stainless steel high precision shielded bearings and completely re-work internal ECU. Those steps allow us to bring maximum Throttle Position Sensor tolerance to under 2 degrees vs. Original Equipment Manufacturer of a maximum 13 degrees, resulting in extremely smooth acceleration.

Do I need to know anything else after I install the pre-loaded ETM?

No. There is no calibration or software needed. Just install the ETM in the car and enjoy driving worry-free again.

Do you actually pre-load the software into the ETM before shipping? My dealer said this is cannot be done.

Your dealer is correct. They cannot load it without the part being installed in the vehicle, but WE can. All we need from you is the vehicle’s VIN number and we will pre-load the latest software directly to your ETM.
