Common Failure Symptoms
Common Failure Symptoms
• Diagnostic trouble code C123EF0- “Hydraulic Brake Booster Limit Value Reached”
Please send in the module portion only, without the hydraulic block.
The vacuum pressure sensor must be replaced with new, before the repaired ABS module is installed.
Code C123EF0 Explained
Code C123EF0 Explained
What does the code C123EF0 mean?
Code C123EF0 means that the Hydraulic Brake Booster has reached its limit value.
What causes the code C123EF0 to be stored?
It all starts with a defective Vacuum Pressure Sensor mounted next to the brake booster.
Brake Servo Vacuum Pressure Sensor VW Part Number 5Q0-906-207
Vacuum sensor’s failure will initially set code C11EC04 -” Brake Servo Restricted” Similar warning message is also displayed on the instrument cluster.
Warning message displayed on the cluster.
Unfortunately, the message is misleading as it suggests that the vehicle could be driven. It is exactly the opposite, the vehicle should be taken to the repair facility and diagnosed. Once the code C11EC04 is confirmed, the Vacuum Sensor should be replaced and code cleared. That would have been it, and the vehicle would be fixed at that point.
In reality, most owners continue to drive their cars until they see the next set of ABS warning lights and messages come on the cluster such as below:
“Brakes fault” message displayed on the cluster.
This is when the code C123EF0 is actually stored in the ABS module. Until this point the Hydraulic Brake Booster compensated for the bad Vacuum Sensor until it had reached the pre-defined limit. This code cannot be cleared by any scan tool, including Audi’s ODIS. Reprogramming the flash software and re-coding the ABS module is not going to help either. The only option is to replace the ABS module with brand new OEM part or send it out to be repaired to a company like ours.
How will XeMODEX fix my ABS module?
To start we’ll need to open the unit up. There is no way around that. With special tooling, this is a simple risk-free operation. Next, we will read and save all the software packages. Finaly we will reset the fault counters to “0” in the software and program it back to the module’s memory. At this point the code C123EF0 will be erased. Module will be tested and sent back to the customer.
Is there anything else that needs to be done after I get the module back.
Yes, the Vacuum Pressure Sensor will need to be replaced, if not done so already. No other calibration or programming will be needed.
Will the C123EF0 ever return?
Yes, if the original culprit the Vacuum Pressure Sensor has not been replaced, the code will come back shortly after a repaired or brand-new module has been installed.
The same applies to any future Vacuum Pressure Sensor’s failures. If the code C11EC04 -” Brake Servo Restricted” is ignored and vehicle driven, the C123EF0 will return and the process of repairing or replacing the ABS will have to be repeated.
In case of repeated failure, will XeMODeX fix it under warranty?
Unfortunately, no remember that the code C123EF0 is stored as a result of other, ignored or unattended failure in the ABS brake system. However, we do guarantee that the module will be free of the C123EF0 code when shipped.
