2005-2009 S60, 2005-2006 For Volvo S80, 2005-2008 V70, 2005-2007 XC70, 2005-2011 XC90
This is a complete remanufacturing and upgrade service for your existing Central Electronic Module (CEM).
CEM units for 2005 and newer Volvos are susceptible to water damage and overheating problems resulting in multiple internal failures. Most common symptoms are:
• No power to one of the low-beam headlights.
• Headlight stays on, even with key removed from ignition.
• 3rd. Brake light stays on or is not working at all.
• No communication with Brake Control Module (BCM).
• Stiff variable speed power steering.
• Front wipers do not operate.
• CEM internal fault codes, resulting in no start condition.
• Loss of communication with one or more modules on the network.
We are able to resolve these symptoms as well as the more complex issues that your CEM might have. In the event that your unit is severely corroded and deemed beyond repair, we are still able to transfer all CEM software including VIN, key codes and mileage information onto one of our pre-remanufactured and upgraded units.
Once the CEM is installed back in the vehicle no additional software downloads are necessary.
Lifetime Limited Warranty
What is improved in our CEM?
As a part of our remanufacturing process, we coat all the printed circuit boards and silicone components with a protective varnish sealer. This coating prevents short circuits and corrosion build -up from accruing in the event of water penetration.
The CEM might also exhibit a series of undesired operations during high ambient temperatures resulting in sudden DIM shut down etc. To address this issue we have developed a custom heat sink mounted directly on the microcontroller. This simple solution helps to keep the MCU’s temperature well within its operating-temperature threshold during hot days.
You should also be aware that Volvo had issued a Technical Service Bulletin to its dealers regarding water entrance in the plenum causing CEM harness corrosion. Repair involves replacing the plenum lid with updated part # 30728860 and service grommet part # 30775689. If your vehicle falls in the following VIN range, we strongly recommend that you have this update performed.
