It all started back in 1998 when a group of electronic and mechanical engineers were asked to investigate the high failure rate of ABS brake modules produced by a specific manufacturer. As it turned out the wave soldering process and the poor solder quality resulted in the cold solder joints deeming the ABS unit defective. Reworking these units with a silver solder corrected the problem permanently. It soon became apparent that excessive cost-cutting and low quality component usage is a wide spread practice across the industry. A significant number of BCU, ABS, Instrument Clusters and other automotive electronics end up in the dump each year because of the 5¢ diode or another sub-standard component failure.
Our mission became clear: To build a better and more reliable part, stop the unnecessary waste and save vehicle owners thousands of dollars in repair costs. It began by identifying high-failure-rate parts, performing detailed failure analysis and developing a permanent fix. In most cases, this involves deleting existing sub-components and replacing them with our own design. Today, XeMODeX Inc. manufactures hundreds of different components for several different European cars.
